Trade Mark Infringement by Microsoft

Writer's picture: Richard JenkinsRichard Jenkins

It appears that even large companies fall foul of trade mark laws. This BBC article illustrates the traps that can easily be fallen into if an organisation does not do its homework when deciding upon a new logo, brand, trade mark etc. Microsoft is changing the name of Skydrive, its cloud storage service, after a legal challenge by British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc (BskyB). The judge said there was evidence Skydrive's name had caused confusion among the public.

BskyB has protected its brands by registering numerous trade marks.
